Balmain ...ohhh the pain...

Balmain is such an exquisite designer. The details on the dresses are outrageous. This is serious art. And have you seen the shoes??!! I am not a shoe or fashion queen, and I don't pretend to be. But I do know superb when I see it. The above are a combination of the Fall 2008 and Spring 2008 collections.

These fall into the fucking rad pants outfits. The styling is just so perfect... It's like a better 90s. I love the fashion of the 90s! It's such a unique combination of styles.... Even though the style makes me laugh and I could never pull off an outfit with the torn jeans and oversized leather jackets... I just can't get enough of the androgyny of it all. It's definitely making a comeback right now with the "hipsters" and then we also see it in styyylish models such as Agyness Deyn and all the Dellal's.

Julien Macdonald Fall 2009

Julien Macdonald's Fall 2009 collection probably sums up the recent trend toward punk/biker hot chick, which my friend and I are definitely loving.

It makes me think of Marla Singer, played by Helena Carter in Fight Club. That edgy hard core look with fur is soooo the shit. I also love crazy dirty hair so a Julien Macdonald with some Marla would be an ultimate look. Or perhaps a Balmain dress with some Marla.

Pauline Trigere and more throwbacks

Circa 1950's cherry red silk sculptural sheath with dipped skirt overlay by Pauline Trigere.

Rare early 20th century Fortuny velvet coat fashioned of rich shades of gold panne silk velvet heavily stencilled in silver Islamic scrolls in a kimono inspired style.

Madame Gres's high coveted and rare knife pleated gowns were done by her own hand and then stitched to follow the flow of the folds as they gracefully followed and blended into each other.

Fashioned of a copper viscose cotton and polymide with rubber elasticized panels allowing for side stretch. Front zipper closure and corset lace up back. Bust cups have defined padded topstitching, the infamous Gaultier signature "cone" look, along with underwire for support.

Circa 1980's Chanel sculptural strapless sheath gown. A sophisticated design with complicated construction reminiscent of the 1950's structural gowns of Christian Dior, Charles James etc. Fashioned of black silk taffetta with fitted corseted boned bodice and lined in black silk chiffon. Overlapping folds of taffeta at bustline mimicking wings. Construction of bodice is styled with diagonal overlapping pleated panels. Back of bodice dips into an inverted "V" with bow adornment on upper back. Zipper closure with 8 goldtone authentic Coco Chanel portrait buttons. Sheath skirt with bias cut back kickpleat overlayed with dramatic asymmetric skirt at waist encircling around waistline and falling into a dramatic dipped back.

Beaded evening coat by Paul Poiret Circa 1924-28
